Co-Founder, Discovery Horse
Who are we?
Discovery Horse, a behavioral health and mental wellness agency, is a sanctuary nestled within a serene 15-acre therapeutic farm in Fort Ripley, Minnesota. Our dedicated team provides nervous systems based, relationship-focused support, employing a holistic approach to guide individuals, children, and families through the challenges of trauma and toxic stress. In addition to our individual and group services, we offer an intensive family program that places a special emphasis on parents, providing them with education, support, and a sense of community. We believe in leading by example, cultivating an organizational culture rooted in healthy, authentic connections. At Discovery Horse, we're not just about working for an organization; we're about working with it, fostering a paradigm shift towards workplace relationships built on mutual respect and genuine collaboration.
We conceptualize healing in the context of the whole person, their relationships, and their environment. By engaging an individual’s support system and providing consistency in relationships and services, we invite lasting change, particularly for youth and individuals with extensive trauma histories. When individuals join our program, they are welcomed into a community along with allies and advocates who will dive into 'life' with them and become part of their support system.
Honesty, Integrity, and Trustworthiness
We build trust through transparency and openness. We communicate authentically.
Connection
Connection is always the goal, regardless of the task or activity you are partaking in with a client or team member.
Balancing In Chaos
Regardless of what is going on around us, we believe it is possible to control what is happening inside of our bodies.
Doing Our Best
We believe that everyone is doing their best, and that includes YOU!
Supportive Community
Our team and community practices the art of being supported by others and having a willingness to support. We identify the difference between support and rescue behavior.
Creating Healthy Boundaries
Healthy boundaries that focus on what we want rather than what we don’t want. Boundaries are meant to manage one’s actions, not control the behavior of others.
